Default My Sony Vaio is a piece of CRAP!!

I bought this damn thing in late 2006 because it's a damn Sony and it's small and light and fu king cool but it is one major piece of crap and I'm pissed off.

The first thing that went wrong was a total hard drive crash at 6 months, I lost a bus-load of pics, shame on me for not backing up. Sony sent me a box and I mailed it off, it was back the NEXT DAY Cool, **** happens, I forgive.
Then about a month later the battery just dies. No warning, no getting weak, it just dies. Sony sends me a new battery within a couple of days.

I get a letter last week asking me to renew my warranty for another 12 months for $bus-load and I toss it out thinking nothing else can go wrong. WRONG.
The battery is dead again. The computer doesn't even "see" the battery and Sony says's my warranty is up. New battery = $200 and I have a trip next Friday to AZ.
I am calling back customer service in the morning and going to bitch-slap them into sending me a new battery or else. I don't know what or else is but I'll think of something good like hundreds of anti-Sony internet slander.

Nope, i don't feel better

I've never liked the sony's ever since my brothers turned out to be a piece of ___. They look sweet but I they always break down. I have a tiny dell that got me through grad school and what I use for tuning/logging. Maybe a couple cosmetic problems but all and all its alright. I've gone through my fair share of computer crashes (damn windows) and re-installing windows that I always backup my stuff.

yeah, live n learn i guess. he hard drive had to be replaced, i guess you can say it was totaled (not just crashed?) lol.
I hope I can talk them into sending me another battery since it is a somewhat repetitive issue. $200 for a battery and they only give a 90 day warranty on it!

You can get a new (not the best but basic) laptop from dell for like $400-$500. $200 is just way too much for a damn battery. Definitely bitch at them, especially since you had battery problems before.

definately.
I can't see spending money on a new notebook when mine is pristine, well except for the dead battery

I called back this morning to speak to the higher level service manager but apparently they are not available untill monday and I'll have to call back before I go to work or from work then

I think I the Sony customer service is outsouced to India, they are very nice, just not very helpful. The woman I spoke with today said the next level in service may accomadate me with a new battery

Is there another source or am I limited to a battery from Sony only?
