Looks like around $85 on ebay. Not good, but if it comes down to it, $85 is cheaper than $200

Just a FYI, when my vaio took a **** on me they would send me replacement batterys and the computer would kill them within a week.. I bought it at circuit city and got a extended warr. when I did, so they gave me 85% of its purchase price after 3yrs to get a new one. So I got the HP. The sony that I have still works but only when plugged into AC power. It actually work fine then..

So if yours eats up the replacement battery and you had to buy it, I would say just forget it and replace it before you throw away a bunch of cash on batterys and still be where you are.

I got a year out of it before tha battery dies again. I'm looking at this battery for a replacement from ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-VAIO-VGN-SZ...QQcmdZViewItem

It's the higher capacity (almost a 1/3more) battery and it's just a few $ more.

A friend of mine at work got a Viao and sent it back after like 3 days because it wouldn't work properly. Sucks to hear that Sony seems to have serious quality issues with their laptops. I got a used Compaq from ebay when I started tuning thinking it would be mostly just a tuning computer and now it has become my main use computer. The specs are nothing to brag about but it still works great and the battery that came with it is still good for at least an hour of charge. I also just bought a Seagate 750GB external hard drive so I can back everything up!

External HD are nice, I have one and I back up all my computers on it as well as keep copies of all my tunes on it. For tuning you gotta have a laptop that has the special screen ( maybe not special) the wifes Dell when used in sunlight I cant see the screen. However my HP and Sony I can see fine. Dont know what its called.

Ya there are 2 things I really don't like about this laptop one is the screen is a little hard to see in daylight and the other is that the USB ports are in the back instead of on the side. It's manageable at full brightness though, until it craps out or I decide I really need a new one.
