Default need more torque from my 5.3l

i apologize i'm sure this has been talked about a lot on here but i'm looking to get some more power out of my daily driver 04 z71 sierra.

it has a spectre cold air intake, a cat back and a custom shift kit with a corvette servo. pulling a camper or a boat it still feels WEAK compared to a titan.

its a daily driver and i have a 2 month old so a 6.0l swap, turbo, supercharger are not an option. dont really want to mess with the gears yet either. when its retired from daily driver duties i will but till then.....

i have read about the 6L cam swaps as well as the ZO6 cam and valve springs. are these going to do anything noticeable for me or not? i dont want to run it on 93 octane either.

plan on a custom tune but wanted some info on a good cam and possible valve spring combo

thanks

Seeing as how your options are extremely limited, I'd start with a tune, no question.

Do 4.56 gears if you don't want to swap engines or FI.

so no gears, and no 93 octane tune, definately get a nice cam and a good tune, but a 87 octane tune wont get you as much power as a 93 octane tune, any reason on why you dont want to change the gears?

I haven't gone into FI, but everything except increasing cubes is bullsh*t for increasing low end and towing power.

Probably the mod which will give you the best increase in towing power is a NNBS intake manifold.

the truck is a daily driver and sees a lot of highway time when pulling the boat or camper to the lake, diff fishing holes and hunting. i planned on gears down the road when its paid off and no longer a daily driver cause it will have 35's under it then.

the same thing goes for the 93 octane tune. i just cant see dropping another $8-10 a tank every 10 days or so.

what about the truck line of cams that comp cams has? i was thinking about one of those cams and some upgraded rockers.

i'd have to go with an 89 octane tune for sure then, correct??? that would be do-able but i just cant see running 93 in a 4x4 daily driver.

all this talk really makes me want a 2wd with a built 6L and a t56!
why did chevy not built this truck?

my wife would kill me for sure! heck if i were gonna spend that much i'd just sell mine and get a dirtymax. torque for days and fuel mileage. more and more i think about it the more i kick myself for not going that route to begin with
