Comp cam 206/212 or a LS6 cam if you plan on throwing some FI into the mix down the road. Does your full bolt on's also include LT's?

The full bolt ons is referring to my ws6. but no it doesnt have them yet. i def want them but didnt think they would make that big of a diff so i was gonna wait till after i put a cam in it.

do you think i should do headers first? for $$$$ value i figured i'd get more from a cam and theyre cheaper than headers and hi flow cats

i have an underdrive pulley and new belts for a ls1. would that work on my 5.3l? if so what about the belts?

not planning on forced induction.

you do realize difference between 93 and 87 is 5 dollars a tank, if you cant afford 5 addition bucks when filling up then something is wrong

the LS motor is horrible for down low torque. the SBC is ideal for pulling power since it makes full torque by 2500 rpms where you need torque the most. All LS motors peak torque in the 4k range. Its a race motor gm stuffed in the trucks. If the LS motor still used the 7/4 swap it would have more lowend but instead it has the 4/7 swap and is more geard towards topend power.

a 150 dollar gear swap works very well. youre looking at 22-2500 rpms crusing at 70mph with 410s thru 456 gearing with a 30" tire. as tire height increases cruising rpms will decrease.

if none of this is of interest then sell the truck and get something with more lowend grunt

X2.

IMO, Get the gears and tune done first. Factory tune is a general ball park tune for a wide range of conditions and engines. The tune will dial in the engine to it's full capacity and still retain it's reliability. If you install the gears yourself, and get the tune, you are looking at about $6-800.

ACTUALLY where i'm at its more like $8 a tank and a tank lasts me about 10 days. do the math thats $300 a yr extra just running 93. and i'm driving the truck till the wheels fall off. then i'll duct tape them back on and keep driving it. so yes i'd like top keep that 300 every yr. but thanks

If you wouldn't have wasted money on these things, you could have just bought a 6.0 and swapped it in. It is the only thing thats going to make a noticable difference besides gears. But if you can't afford to use 93 octane, then you should probably also stay away from the gears. Your mileage will most likely decrease.

Basically, for your circumstances, I would just live with what you have. Tune and headers won't do crap for torque.

wow, so you are telling me that you can get a 6L and do the entire swap for $700? cause thats what i have wrapped up in everything thats done to it now.

now i remember why i quit coming to this forum yrs back! too many ppl trying to throw in sarcastic little comments instead of trying to help you out
