New DD...I know I'm so COOL!
Yeah so, I got a Duramax...
Been in need of a new Daily Driver for a little while now since I'm walking a fine line with my Gixxer in LA traffic and my truck is not capable of being my Daily Driver anymore since it's much too modded and a little temper-mental.
I've always wanted a Duramax but getting a CCSB was not an option right now so after talking to a buddy who praises the utility of his Express van, I decided to go ahead and get one.
Not surprisingly they aren't easy to find and when they are found they tend to be quite expensive. However I did find a good deal down in Houston, Texas so last Saturday I flew down there and picked up this beauty for $12,500.
It's a 2006 Chevy Express 2500 Cargo Van with a Duramax, 103,000 miles. Was formerly a Anheuser Busch fleet van and was given to one employee during it's tenure in the fleet.
Drove up to Austin Texas for a few days and driving around town I pulled in an average of 21 mpg's.
Did the brutal 850 mile drive to Arizona (with no cruise control ) and was able to pull down 19.2mpg which was still pretty badass. Then picked up this sweet little beauty...
Which allowed me to tow my truck which had been hiding in Arizona for the last few months back to LA.
(Note to self...do not tow my truck backwards again!! )
Towing it back to LA netted me an average of 14.7 mpg which was about what I expected so I was happy with that.

Future mods include:
-Swap audio system from truck into van
-Tint windows
-Bag' it (helper bags for towing as well as to improve the ride when unloaded and lower it a bit since I don't like the stock ride height.)
-Get some wheels and tires for it
-Put in a bed, couch and some cabinets for my tools and shelves for random crap like trailer hitches, tow straps bike stands, etc...
-4" exhaust, Intake and a tune
And depending on cost and budget, get it painted. Not sure exactly what to paint it but anything's better than creeper white.

Haha, well if I did it would either have to be one that came out of the hood, or make one come up through the floor of the cargo bay. Which might actually work out because I could tell a chick it's a stripper pole. Although it might get a little hot if the truck is running.

Yeah, just improve the breathing of the motor so intake, 4" exhaust and a tune. Should put me at about 24-25mpg. At least I would be happy with that. I've read that some people are getting closer to 30 but there's alot of other stuff they've done that I'm not so sure I want to do. This needs to stay as stock as possible since it will have to be my DD and I know that transmission can't handle excessive torque. It's got a 4L85E I believe.
