Picked up a Mosin today simply because it was so cheap. I will get a shotgun still, just going to be a bit longer before I can afford one.
My Mosin is from 1933
And Bill, have you ever actually whitnessed someone getting busted for 922r violations? IDK if it's just because you live in California or what, but I go to my range here in DFW with my AK and the only thing they ask is what kind of ammo I'm firing. Also, there's really no way to tell what parts are compliant and which ones aren't. I could easily lie and say they're off brand parts but the packages said made in USA.

1933r Mosin 91/30? Hex Receiver? Nice find! Make sure you learn how to clean after shooting, the ammo is corrosive. PM me if you want my method.
Never witness but I know the feds WILL LOVE TO BUST YOUR *** IN A HEARTBEAT. They never ask at the range, it's not their job. You'll be driving along and stopped. An officer will ask if you have a firearm. You will find yourself in a jam fast, why not spend the $13 for the right parts? It's really easy to stay in compliance, don't mess around with Federal law, you risk losing the right to bear arms at all.

My AK is 922r compliant none the less because it was imported through century arms, but I feel the whole issue doesn't make too much sense. My gun is legal, but even if it wasn't I wouldn't think twice about shooting it.
