Possible Nationwide Long Distance problems

Possible Nationwide Long Distance problems
As some of you know, I work for a small telephone company / ISP. We're seeing a lot of incoming long distance calls have wrong caller IDs (usually they are showing up as New York numbers under the alias of "Bidaxis"). Other issues are poor call quality, choppy audio, one way audio, echo, and dropped calls. These calls are coming from all over, the other day we had a couple that were from the neighboring town a couple of miles away.
Is there anyone here that has been noticing issues with their long distance (incoming or outgoing) that match these symptoms. I know the governing body of my company (The NTCA) has filed a complaint with the FCC.
I did some digging on this and it seems to be a really widespread problem. I'm curious to know if any of you or people you know have been having issues.
If you are having these problems on incoming long distance calls, there is nothing that your telephone company can do to fix it. However, if it's happening to you on outgoing long distance calls, then you can call your long distance provider and complain about your issues.
They will want the number you were calling from, the number that you were calling, and the time that the call was placed. Please keep track of as many examples as you can if it has happened more than once.

As far as incoming, it could be either that give problems, I just got a call from "New York" according to CID on my cell about an hour ago... The call came from central Iowa, and was choppy as hell.
I haven't figured out yet if it is only calls coming from land lines that have been doing this, or if it is calls from both land lines and cell phones, initial knee jerk reaction from me is that it would be both as they both travel the same paths.
