Default Project: Old Skool

I've been thinking a little bit and my step-dad and I have decided to build up a mild muscle car. The car that has caught my eye so far is the Plymouth Duster, what do you guys think? I don't want to spend any more than $10k on the total project from start to finish. I'm open to anything though, any suggestions?

Small car + big engine = Fun.

What are you after with it. I have a 69 Mustang and a 70 GTO. The 'Stang is just a six but it looks good and has nice paint. The GTO is a primer (read looks like ***) drag car and will blur your vision at idle. Neither of them can go around a turn.

I'd like something I could just cruise around in but then race a little with the opportunity comes up. I'm sure whatever I pick won't hardly to be able to make a turn but that doesn't bother me. I think possibly 12.5 - 13.0 in the 1/4 would be ideal. I'm trying to stay away from Mustangs, Camaros, and all of the others in that area that you see pretty often. Thanks for the recommendations everyone, keep em' coming!

This is the girlfriends car. Its a 1970 Ford Maverick. We picked it up for just over $1,000.oo. I think it would rock with a 2.3 turbo SVO 4 in it. That with new suspension and interior should be only a few grand. That would be a cool little car.

That would be fun! I had an SVO Mustang with the same drive train.
5 speed stick too.
If you get a engine go for the 85-86 SVO Mustang or Thunderbird Turbo Coupe engine. The 84s were a little down on power.

look for.. early mid 70's
Buick - Apollo, Skylark
Chevy - Citation
Oldsmobile - Omega
Pontiac Ventura, Phoenix
(all of them can be had for mere $100's in running condition...)
the Pontiac Ventura( i had a 74) has the same susp setup as teh 1st gen Fbod, and is shares many body panels with the Nova. mine had a little ol' 400 in it

also a Chevy II would be a nice little car. but if i HAD to pick out a car...88~ Omni GLH-S
