That sucks! I dont see how they haven't changed the design after all these units going bad..Def get a DMH

not even a year old. motor is super loud and super slow. the plastic gears inside are pretty worn down also

Well my DMH fell apart the other day... All the bolts/screws that hold the motor to the flange aparently fell out awhile back.... I noticed that it took forever to shut and open... That is because the damn motor was sitting there rotating and when the wire finally tangled/knoted up it would work... but i added 4 screws and all is well now...

how long have you owned it and did you notice if the gears are plastic or metal inside?

i have had it about 2 years i would say... it works fine now, the 4 screws was an easy fix..

My DMH has been pretty stout. It started to rattle after about a year. Just a month ago I took some piano wire and made a spring for it so that it will apply pressure to it when closed. No problems now.

so if i go with a DMH it would be a good idea to locktite all the screws
