Default S&w .357

Has anyone ever shot one of S&W's scandium frame .357 revolvers?

http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/w...04&isFirearm=Y

I'm interested in what it's like to shoot one. They only weigh about 13 oz.

i have heard that they are an absolute HANDFUL to shoot with as little of a grip as they have and such a light weight. i would just go with a .38 i plan on getting a 642 when i get my concealed handgun permit.

a j-frame .357 is stout enough. add in the the scandium alloy composition and it gets pretty wild.

Yeah, I agree. Unless you need the light weight I would not bother.

the 640 makes a great CW, hammerless and bobbed from the factory.

that pistol is for up close, point blank defense. That's a gut pistol. If you were to shoot that at a bad guy more than 10' away, you scare the **** out of them, that's for sure. Let alone tweak your wrist.

Ah, I think I could hit to 15 yards pretty good with the 640, it has a nice balance. A short barreled handgun is point blank after all.

They suck to shoot in .357, throw some .38's in there and its nothing. They have there own style of kick too, they dont jump rather the gun just comes straight back into the crease of your hand between your thumb and pointer finger. Nasty little gun.

that sounds like it would hurt... I have a 642 (Titanium .38), after 50 rds through it my hand is begging for a switch, I could only imagine shooting something that light in .357

They are a handful with .357 ammo and still pretty "zesty" with .38s. I will be getting a Taurus snubby in .38 soon to carry as my back up weapon.

But as we all say, when you need it, you'll never feel the kick or the flame it gives off.

That's what I was thinking, shooting around with .38's and loading .357's to carry.

Shoot what you carry.....period. Makes no sense to pratice shooting paper with one round and then defend your life with a completely different round.

Now if just for fun shoot the .38's all day long but for your CW pratice what you will carry.
