If your even going from a kneeling to prone stance it can happen, and having a broken mag in that AK turns even the unstoppable commie firearm of choice into a paperweight. You want metal, or at least metal lined feed lips, metal body.... basically if a mag has a metal option for it you want it. There's a ton of good **** out there for them. My Arsenal built AK is getting an ultimak gas tube mount in the somewhat forseeable future so I can run a low profile red dot up front. I was playing around with it in low light and came to the conclusion that the irons indeed suck ***** when it starts to get dark.

I wouldn't be concerned with ammo choices with it. Corrosive stuff isn't going to melt your barrel out of it like some people will imply, just clean your **** after you shoot the corrosive stuff. Windex with ammonia is pretty good for neutralizing the salts and bad **** in the milsurp ammo if it's going to be a little while before you get to clean it up.

Anywho, nice rifle though... treat her right!

These mags are actually pretty decent quality, but I do have a milsurp mag that came with it. This gun is strictly for the range until the zombies come . Also, I'm shooting that wolf because it is JHP, not FMJ. 99% of the local ranges do not allow FMJ in rifles, no exceptions.

I've been thinking the same thing , the wood on this gun is great. I do like it, so I've been throwing around the idea of buying another one, in 7.62

Good man. Remember, 2 is 1, 1 is none.

Also, another lil tip... having rifles that share the same ammo that you SHOULD be starting to stockpile makes life MUUUUCH easier.

Well having something in 7.62 would be much easier to stockpile IMO since its available locally.

True. Being able to pick stuff up for it at the store down the street is nice... fortunately there's a fine establishment down the street from me where I can get 5.45 lol. Out of all my rifles and pistols, all I need to buy is 5.45, 5.56, .308/7.62x51, 12 guage, and .45. Considering how dirt cheap 5.45 is right now I can build a mountain of it in the basement... unfortunately my 5.56 has turned into a foothill as of late :-(

well the 5.45 I actually can shoot locally at a range is $7 per 20rnd box but I don't have anywhere else to shoot it basically. I could buy the 1080rnd tins of it, but I'd have a hard time finding a range that allows milsurp, or I'd have to drive 2 hours to go to someones land to shoot it.

It really kinda does look like a toy/plastic gun in those pics. I was thinking that it might be one of those .22 LR AK Replicas.
