Default so was it a bad idea to turn this trade down?

guy wanted to trade me straight up my truck for his '71 Nova SS black w/ purple ghost stripes 396 .30 over to a 454 holley 750 torker 2 intake stock turbo 350 & stock rear....i turned him down...just wondering if i should have said yes...here's the craigslist ad on the car:

http://tampa.craigslist.org/hdo/cto/1891511880.html

FYI the car had 76k miles (not 100% sure on that) had a few signs of rot under a fresh paint job with overspray & dirt spots in the paint...looked kinda like a garage paint job

Good move, I had a 71 Nova and they are not nearly as sharp as a truck. You did good keeping yours.

Boring a 396 .030 over does not make a 454. A 454 requires a 4.250" bore and a 4" stroke, and the 396 has a 4.09x bore and a 3.75" stroke.

Meaning because of this discrepancy, I'd be wary of what exactly was done to the engine when "built."

^I was thinking the same thing.^

Nice car, but your truck is better.

I never did care for those body styles. Friend had one in HS, thing ran like a 21 sec 1/4.

Now a 66 Nova? Ida been all over that

so if a 396 is bored .30 and becomes a 454, then if i bore my 327 .30, i'll have a 385? wow!! That might be my next mod!! good choice keeping the truck!!

I think you absolutly made the right decision. I would rather buy a builder Nova and build it the way you want it.

396 .30 over is a 402, something that simple no telling what else he is exaggerating about (spelling? lol)
