so i was supposed to be leaving on my trip today
I was supposed to be going fishing/camping leaving today, but I've had various issues including a couple days ago a loud constant buzzing noise from my fuel pump. This got me worried as hell because not more than 2 months ago a brand new OEM pump was put in (not by me). I crawl under and sure enough, the fuel filter was not changed. In fact, I don't think the filter has ever been changed since it was new 9 years ago. So I'm really hoping this bastard is all clogged up causing my pump to overwork and buzz. Can you believe NAPA wanted $19 for a 17mm line wrench

well i dont know how long you've had the truck yourself, but if you think its the original filter...your gonna feel a difference...they get pretty shitty quickly...when i did mine for the 1st time on my pickup, it made a big difference anyways...

It right inside the frame rail on the driver's side where the cab meets the bed. That's on 99-03. 04 and up are non-serviceable and in the fuel tank. I got NAPA part # 23481 for $7. To properly remove the fuel line fitting, you need a 17mm line/crowfoot/flare nut wrench and a larger wrench (I will be using my adjustable wrench) to hold the fixed nut on the filter so you can turn the fitting on the fuel line. A can of PB blaster is also handy. Budhayes also told me to unscrew the fuel cap to relieve some pressure in the system (I don't know much about working on cars!)
