Slippery slope guys... the government takes a little at a time and before you know it its too late. If they're going to monitor your drinking at bars whats to keep them from stopping you from eating a burger at the local fast food joint b/c the cholersterol might kill you... think about it.

I must agree. I am totally opposed to drunk driving but getting intoxicated is a persons business IMO. If there is a designated driver, why the hell not indulge a bit?
This is crap but hell, people in College Station (home of the Fighting Texas Aggies ) are used to it. Our cops out here are Phuckin *****! Its not uncommon for them to bust a party and several PIs given out and MIPs and also MICs. IT SUX. In the words of Mearle Haggard. "I think Ill just sit here and drink" at my own house.

The TABC has been given so damn much power it's rediculous. The government keeps chipping away one little thing at a time.

Bottom line, public intoxication is against the law, whether it be in a bar or out in the open. You can dislike the law all you want, it's not going anywhere.
I witnessed this first hand on my birthday(st. patrick's day a couple of weeks ago). Me and a buddy were at Molly's pub in Conroe(25 miles north of Houston), TABC walked in and I told my buddy who they were and that they were fixing to start yankin' people out of there. Sure enough, no more than 30 seconds after I said that, they already had a guy and escorted him out the door. He was given sobriety tests and we took off.
You guys can cuss the cops all you please, but they have been sworn in to uphold the law, and public intoxication and driving under the influence are a couple of the laws they don't take lightly. If public intoxication was harmless, it wouldn't be against the law, but it does lead to verbal and physical altercations in many cases.
