Default Thinking about getting a reg cab

Just tossing around some ideas here, but I'm thinking of getting a NBS reg cab. To those of you who went from a ext cab/crew cab to a reg cab or vice versa, did you feel it was a worthwhile swap? Is the weight difference noticeable? I told myself my next one would be 4wd, but I'd like to retain my 4l80e. Thoughts?

It really depends on what you use it for. If you have a wife and kids, not a good idea. If its just you, maybe ok. If this is not your DD, go for it. I know for me I am usually lugging something around and I just throw it on the back seat or rear floor. Hard to do that in a reg cab unless you get one with a cover.

It's a worthwhile if you are going all out. I still haven't made a full pass without glitches but in the 1/8th mile I've already gained .3 sec and 4 mph in hotter weather and with .2 slower 60ft due to traction.

As far as performance goes, my cc has a younger motor, e fans, and gears so this one is much quicker than my 01 reg cab.

Comfort, I went from 2 reg cabs to a crew and I frickin love it. I will never go back. I liked my reg cabs but I will never go back unless I buy a project truck.

the Ex. cab wouldn't go anywhere.

All I know is that reg cabs are extremely rare around here, but when I do see them I'm always surprised how much smaller they seem than an Ex. Cab....seems like they would be pretty light on their feet, responsive, and all and all make a good DD.

I just briefly checked online but most of the early 2000ish reg cabs for sale seem to be v6 models.

I'm sure you would agree, that you would just swap the v6 out lol.

I'd much rather start with the 4.8, eventhough I know there is a writeup on here for the v6 swap.

I wouldn't mind me some manual windows either....though I'm not sure I could go without power doors

I drive a reg cab as a dd and its not too bad and I'm 6'6" but there's nowhere to put anything inside the cab. I love my ext cab. I've had a avalnche and a tahoe and my ext cab is perfect to me. Enough room if somone has to ride with you but mostly just roomy and place to put all my junk.. I would like to have a scsb as a project truck though cuz it would be a better platform to go fast
