Default Ticket for 'exhibition of speed'

Awesome how they make it sound way worse than it is. I called the court and the representative automatically thought I was street racing... If that were the case, it would have gone on the kills forum

Anyway, last night I was driving and I was stopped at a red light. The light turned green and I spun the tires. Not going to lie, it was on purpose, but a cop hiding in a Chuy's parking lot across the street spotted me and pulled me over and gave me a ticket for exhibition of speed. I honestly had no idea that it was actually illegal in Arizona to peel out.

I have a court date in two weeks for it. Any idea what I might say to the judge? I have a clean record otherwise.

Here's what you say to the judge: "Guilty."

You said it yourself, "it was on purpose". Man up.

"Manning up" for traffic fines is stupid. It's not like he's not paying child support or he hurt someone.

I got one also, pled guilty, and said that I could pay the fine, i just couldn't afford the points, because of my job. They let me off with no points and just paid the fine.

Mention to them that you have a clean driving record.

Agreed. There was no ill intent whatsoever. I had my military ID out when I got pulled over, but I wasn't flashing it. Maybe when I go to court I'll mention my career in the Air Force, and hope for some leniency.

So I've never done this before.. Is there a time where they'll give me a minute or two to speak my case so I'm not defenseless when I get there?

Breaking the law is also stupid, especially at a presumably busy intersection. He can go in there and plead his case and hope for leniency but if he doesn't get it, there is no room for whining. Isn't there a saying, either "You gotta pay to play." or "You gotta pay to be stupid."? I think both apply here but no big deal, we've all been there. Lesson learned.
