time for my DITY move back to Texas
I've already gone to our little class and filled out my paperwork, I'll be picking up my package Nov 1st.
I'll be using my truck and probably a U haul trailer.... or maybe pick up a cheap utility trailer here. I know I have to weigh my truck before and after loading and you get paid more for having more weight (or at least more of a weight differential) so I planned on stripping my truck down to race weight (~4100#'s) and weighing it as my "before" weight. Then putting it back together and loading it down, probably getting my loaded weight to around 6300-6400lbs... As a single E4, I'm allowed 7000lbs. I estimated my weight of belongings at 800lbs.... since I was told to underestimate... I'm sure I have WAY more than that... probably close to 2K with everything. I'm looking for the best possible payout once its all said and done.
Anyone have anymore tips on how to make a little off a DITY??? I know we have plenty of military around here.

strip out that bitch and have an empty tank and weigh it.
then load as much **** you can to get that 7k lbs. and weigh it.
get all your travel expenses up front. seth told me he was still trying to get all of his months later.

I plan on taking it to the truckstop this afternoon to see where I'm starting out... then strip it sometime, and take it again, on the same scales, and then load the **** out of it... the airshocks in the rear will allow me to put WAY more in the bed... I was told if I were to buy a little utility trailer, that the weight of that trailer would count as well, it wouldnt on a rental.
Seth was the one who told me to under estimate my weights... my move will be going through the finance office at Camp Lejeune, hopefully Jordan can hook it up
I still just really hope the truck makes it back in one piece....
