my AB gets the ***** when i give him too much protein. he has a sensitive stomache/skin/ears...nowhere near as durable as the rat terriers i had in the past that i fed the cheapest slop i can find. i tried orijen, but getting the stuff was a PITA. he has been on blue buffalo large breed adult for a few years now and seems to do good on it. i'm afraid to change it and have to deal with that bull dog fog

I made a batch of venison today, 10 lbs mixed with the veggies and fruits yielded us 21 bags. The quart size...3 dogs are fed from one bag. That cost me $17.90, and (2) 40-50lbs of chicken frames. That set us back $54 rounded up. We have extra blends, but I predict all we need is 4lbs to finish off the month. Which is only a few more dollars. So we will say $60 total now. Toss in the cost of bags, we will say $10, so now we are at $70. Now add the cost of fruits and veggies, $10 max-$80 total. We also add flaxseed bran, $2-3...so I like to be a little generous. We will say $90 total for the month. Now that can change, but my meat guy hasn't changed his prices in the nearly 12 months I've been doing this.
I was spending more just for Diamond Naturals and Muenster dry kibble.
YMMV

I've tried on a hunting forum I am on, I've asked for hog or deer parts that people don't want. But I have two issues with that, not knowing what these people did for prep, or actually getting them to follow through! So I have up on that for now. Unfortunately, a deer lease isn't feasible with cost and scheduling right now.
