Default Turbocharged 8.1L generator

We are workin at a new jail puttin in millwork and such.
Walked out the side to go cut some hanger brackets.

Saw this.

Propane or LNG?





Little turbo but got to looking, 1800rpms max on the generator.

Thought that was pretty sweet.

No idea what it burns... But I bet that thing has some grunt at 1800 RPM

I went to their website and found out it delivers 228hp at 1800rpm. Max engine speed is 2000rpms. Fuel consumption at 100% load is 1930 cfh (54.7 m3/hr) natural gas.

I just thought that was cool.

A local wheeler dealer guy had a couple of those a few years ago. Think they use them on wind machines too.

I installed one of these generators about 4 years ago at Timken Bearing Reaserch center, There is a thead about it somewhere, But it was very cool to see and install a turboed 8.1.

We had to install a huge muffler with exhaust vent thru the roof, cant hear the turbo at all. also has a block heater / coolant recirc we had to hook up.

Very cool indeed!
