TV Mount Opinion
I picked up a 42" tv and I'm wanting to put it up on my wall but the Wall mount suggestions wants it mounted onto 2 studs with 4 screws. However where I want to put the tv i can only use 2 screws in 1 stud in the center and then use two more on the ends into sheet rock for support since it wont reach across all 3 studs.
Can I get away with using 2 in the center stud and then 4 in the sheetrocK? The tv weighs less than 47lbs.
Below is a pic of what I mean. Each vertical line is a stud and the square is the mount. The TV is currently just up on my dresser with a platform under it for more height.

cut a peace of 3/4 ply wood to go over the 3 studs.
mount your beacket to the 3/4 ply wood.
drill holes the size of screws, use at least 2 1/2 inch to secure the ply wood to the wall.
hang your tv and enjoy.

Is the mount swivel or stationary?? If it's stationary you should be fine. Mine swivels and extends ALOT and I needed to put them in the studs. Also you can drill in a couple more holes in the center stud and mount it with 4 screws in the center and 2 in the drywall on either side. This is all assuming it's not a swivel mount. Just a thought
