Default Umpire blows call and ruins perfect game on the last out

I know a lot of you hate baseball, but if you appreciate any kind of skill check this out. So the Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga had a perfect game going and in the bottom of the 9th what should have been the last out, the ump called the runner safe and the replays obviously show that he was out. Here is a vid I found. I know it's not the best quality, but it shows it very clear. I'm a cardinals fan, but you have to feel for him. Even the batter is like, dude I was out WTF.

Man that sucks. To get that far and to end it with a bogus call.

I don't have too much beef with them since we kicked their *** in 06, but I'm with you. . . terrible call. I have a lot of respect for him for just walking away. I probably would have come unglued. lol

Just goes to show that in the end, people can't put their emotions behind themselves. The umpire clearly did not want the pitcher to have all the fame in this game...

That's what I thought, but I just called my mom (who is one of the biggest baseball fans I know) and she said that when the ump watched the replay after the game, he had tears in his eyes cause he felt so bad. Whether that's true or not, who knows. But I'm with you man, I thought the same thing. I bet the batter kind of feels like **** too.

Yeah, I heard on the radio this morning that the ump, Jim Joyce, apologized for his missed call. Doesn't fix it, but you don't hear many officials admit or even apologize when they miss a call.

Here is an SI article about the MLB possibly reviewing the call SI article link

That's what I am thinking when they said they were "reviewing the call." But it would be to give him a perfect game, they still won either way.

Well they still won the game, but I think there is some serious pressure for Bud Selig to change the call. Don't know if that is fair, or even possible. If it happened in New York this would be overturned already. Only time will tell.
