its normally the older guys and the dumb kids who believe them that think the 5.3 4.8 6.0 ect ect is a 350, 305, or 400.

 

I was at the garage on the base last week. Guy rolled in with a decent looking RCSS, SS wheels, nice sounding exhaust. Peaked my curiousity so I went over and asked him what he had in it. "Stock 350" Asked him if he did the swap, deer in the headlights. Wasn't happy about the fact when I told him it was a 5.3. Older guy.

 

seeing as how i have my truck debadged doesnt say diesel on it anywhere and i left it idling out front of a gas station some kid came up to me and told me i need to have my engine rebuilt cause "it has a really bad knock you should get it towed to a mechanic to fix the engine"

 

High School kid: Cool 6.0! is that a 454?
Me: Yep 6.0, no its a 365 ci
High School kid: No its not Gm doesnt make a 365
Me: *walks away*

People at work: what does your truck have in it?350?
Me: Sure does!..walks away again

 

They make a 364 though....

Thats funny because a guy I worked with bought a used 07 regency, told everyone that it had a corvette 350 in it. I tried to correct him but he would have no part of it. He just knew it was a 350, I hooked him up with Wheatley who I think finally convinced him it was a 5.3, he tuned the truck for him and the guy rolls it a couple weeks later. Couple weeks later he was fired for being drunk on duty.

 

It still surprises me how many people think a 5.3 is a 350 since the gen 3 engines have been in trucks since 1999........
