I made plenty of money, I did heavy line work (engine and transmissions) along with whatever else came in when I had no heavy jobs and as long as the shop is busy there is money. I was turning 70-80 hours every week and worked 1 Saturday a month which sucked, but was gravy money....

I just hated the idiots around me, the back pain, and picking teddy grahams out of Venture vans for warranty time. Cars are a fun hobby, and if you can find a niche (tuning, engine building, trans work, etc.) you'll probably be a lot happier than I was. But being a general repair mechanic gets old to most people....

Usually what's fun as a hobby turns into hatred as a career...that seems to be the case with most things. I like wrenching on my vehicle or friends but I wouldnt want to do it for a living, it would get boring doing the same things over and over again day in day out.

Dont do it takeing your hobby and making it your job suc. Did it myself went to wyo. I make good money im under 30 but never want to work on stuff at home unless i have to. I would go to nursing school like my wife sister and brotherlaw they all make good to great money they will always have a job,just think of all those old peeps.

Is that Flate rate or strait time???

You can nake O.K money if you work on Hevey equiptment... I've seen some make as much as 80,000 a year in the fild, BUT that is a TON of OT and it really isnt that much money..
