What is the dumbest question someone asked about your truck?

pulled up to a gas station last night...
-dude your truck sounds so huge, i was looking around wondering what sounds so badass
-oh yea man, thanks, i just put a turbo on it with 4 inch exhaust
-nice man, do you ever go mudding with it?

I have a 4.8 swapped 97 S10.
The one that I get and I hate most, "you got a 350 in there?". Blows their mind when I pop the hood and say nope, 4.8...
I also get asked when they see under the hood, "you kept the fuel injection?"

Them: what's it got?
me: a carbed SBC.
Them: want to race?
me: for how much $
all of the street racers around here will hear a carbed SBC and assume an old 350. technically i'm not lying lol.

haha that's gonna be fun!
I screw with some people and tell them that I'll pop the hood if they can guess. No one ever has. closest they get is LS1.
It's always fun going to the parts stores. Many many dumb comments have been made there. I typically only deal with 2 guys who work there that actually understand the truck.
Back when I was building it, I had a lot of people ask me what I was going to do with it. Blew their mind when I said daily drive it. Most people around here are stuck in the old 350 days. The Vortec 5.7 is as new as they are aware of.
I've had a few people say "damn I bet gas sucks in that". Blows their mind when I say it gets 21mpg in town and 26.5 highway so it's not too bad.
Btw, love this thread.

I've had a few guys at the gas station ask what kind of truck it is. Really? I mean, just because the front emblem is gone doesn't mean you can't tell!!!
Had one the other day...
"that a Chevy?"
"well, ya... GMC"
"ah... looks more like a Chevy"
Usually its older, real older guys digging the truck and asking about it. Hard to be a smart *** back to 70 yr olds wearing VET hats.

I just love the guys that tell me about stage 2 this, stage 4 that, and stage 3 blah blah blah, and stage 5 NOS!! installed... Oh really, did you overnight all this from the GT5 parts store in Japan?
#327
When I hear someone mention "stage" anything, it's my cue to leave. At that exact moment I'm sure they know nothing at all about making something go fast.
#328
Very true! If theh really bought a stage anything it was probably for a mustang. No body intelligent continues that conversation.
#330
The only time I acknowledge a "stage" is when it's a particular company's product (RPM Stage 5 T56, PRC Stage 2.5 heads)
If it's an entire package or something you could measure another way (a turbocharger, for instance) then by all means it's a measure of the obvious lack of know-how on the owner's part
