If it's an entire package or something you could measure another way (a turbocharger, for instance) then by all means it's a measure of the obvious lack of know-how on the owner's part
Yeah, that is understandable. I know Dodge has there "stage packages" for like the SRT-4, and TRD has offered stage packages too. Yeah some srt-4 guys just go on about stage 2 or 3 etc etc, and still not know what all is upgraded..

That's understandable, but I'd never use it in a conversation to sound cool like most wannabees who do but haven't a clue.

This is the conversation that I had yesterday putting fuel in my truck

Guy: What kind of gas mileage do you get in that diesel?
Me: My fuel mileage is 16-17 (03 GMC Sierra duramax CCSB 4wd)
Guy: Really that bad?
Me: I do mostly city driving but when I do highway its about 18-20
Guy: My brother inlaw has a 05 cummins and gets 25 in the city and 28 on the highway.
Me: Oh yeah cool.
Guy: You must really beat the **** out of your truck.
Me: Nope drive like most everyone else.
Guy: No you must really drive it hard cause all he has on his truck is a intake. That's why dodge is a better truck
Me: Sure ( and walk away nicely)

PO had hacked rear lug studs to 1" to run 1.5" spacers and spun some knurls. Was replacing with new stock length studs and the old guy a couple doors down walked over to ask me why I was going to run dual wheels on a 1500...

I facepalmed.

"Does it even have shocks?" (Truck is lowered, and it was a serious question). What made it worse is that it came from an executive who owns a bunch of cars, even collects old fire trucks and goes to Barrett Jackson with high rollers every year.

This has to be one of my all time favorite threads on here.

I get asked all the time how my truck can even run without cats.
