Sounds like the people involved in the racing should come to an ammicable agreement and be done with it.

pump gas, working lights, full interior, a maximum wheel size (10" wide is more than enough), driven to the track, current inspection, registration and tags, and able to sit in one spot and idle for 10 minutes with no problems

oh, and appear to be a fully functional truck (ie. bed not gutted, tailgate, inner fenderwells, no plexiglass, etc)

Also must have a baby car seat in it somewhere, beer cans in the bed and a 10ft long cb antenna. Oh and no more than a 1/4 of tank of gas.

Requirements should be:

Street legal(not smog since who the F*** is)
Drive 20 miles + track time with no fill-up(no crappy 5 gallon race cells)
Dot Tires defined as street acceptable
Exhaust should be defined as minimuim (strait pipes, cut-outs, turn downs, no open headers)
Weight reduction defined as not missing any panels. Who street races with a spare tire?

Only changes allowed are tire pressure! No change of bottles, tires, intake filter)

If they don't have a radio who cares, anything goes as long it drives there by itself and make a 20 mile cruise.

We have this very same debate every year on a local forum setting up "street" classes for a local shootout.

Exact same points come up.

I'd have to say, exterior wise. Nothing that would get you a ticket. Slicks, open headers, parachute etc. Under the hood and bed cover, I'd have to say anything goes. Tags, insurance, and full interior.
