Who carries extra fuel for long trips?
Been thinking about a fuel cell under my toolbox. I have 18"x60"x6" free space under there. That equals 28 gallons. Easy 550 extra miles
And i believe its 100+ gallons of gasoline is the limit for DOT without placards and HAZMAT stuff.
So time to start building! Filler cap is goin to be the trick.

I have a 35 gal tank in the bed of my Dmax. With that, I can get about 550 miles towing and 1050 empty With out it, towing sucked, was looking for fuel every 200 miles! lol
With gas, transferring the fuel to the main tank is the issue. In most states, it is illegal to have a gravity transfer so you have to have a transfer pump. Then there is the evap system, have to be able to vent while transferring, then sealed up the rest of the time. The only other way to do it is if your second tank has it's own fuel pump, sending unit and evap setup like factory duel tanks. Then you just switch between them.

Thats kinda what i was thinking.. except run a "T" in the EVAP line and run it to a Vent. And have a stock fuel pump that will pump it into the main tank thru a bulkhead. And the "T" off the EVAP will work for a Vent for the transfer.
Basicallly when the IGN is on the pump will be on a timer so every 30 minutes it pumps for 1 minute or something like that. Roughly work it so both tanks will drain at the same rate.

When i was traveling with the power transformer company we had 100gal AUX tanks and they just gravity fed to the main tank. Dont open the fuel cap if the aux tank still has fuel in it
Ok so final measurements are 64" wide x 21.5" deep x 5.5" tall. With a chute on the driver side thats 1.5"x12"x21.5"
60 Gallons total. Got a freakin motor home capacity with that!!
900-1400 mile range... but then again i dont really wanna drive that far. But would be nice to fill up and drive for 2 months back and forth to work.
