If a comedian connects w/ a person on the "everyday life", a given comedian will appeal to you or whoever.
Guess not( social). He's in the wrong line of businesss than; funny what $ will do.
I've heard stuff before like this w/ other celebs.( no approach, speak, nor handshake w/. D.L.) I was told by someone of a singer or 2, turn your back & don't look @ them. How gay! 
Who put stars there - Fans! Plus, I would never see that performer anyway.
I agree 100% w/ what I quoted. His delivery & Johnny Carson's seal the deal.

Letterman does not like being around or interacting with people (ironically enough). The gf and I went to his show, and before he came out, the announcer said "do not approach Mr Letterman, do not speak to him, please do not try to shake his hand." I thought talk show hosts were social, gregarious people.
