Exclamation who works swing shift??

Who works swing shifts? I have been on them for over 5 years now and I hate the fact that I can not sleep normally. Anyone else have this problem? I guess you can say that I am just super bored at 330 in the morning.

i work 5 days (12-14hr days) then im off 3, then back on nights for 5 nights then off a day and a half, then back on 5 days. blah! what really screws me is when i cover a vacation over my long days off (my 3 off) i have to work my set of 5 days, then the 3 i was suppose to be off, plus my set of 5 nights (i normally stay on days for 13 days or stay on nights for 13 nights however the shift falls) i never work my days off, and covering a vacation makes me wanna pull my hair out.

My schedule is all f'ed up. 4 mids, 3 off, 3 mids, 4 off, 3 days, 4 off, 4 days, 6 off.

Lots of time off but I can never get a real straight sleep pattern.

12 hour shifts. In front of 5 computers at night with nothing to do. Lots of time on PT.net.

i also work 12hr shifts.... days and nights, been on it for 10yrs now.... it really doesnt bother me yet, but i do notice that i sleep less when im working nights? i guess my room aint dark enough....

I work 4nights, then off 3day, work 3days, off 1day, work 3nights, off3days, work 4days off 7days!!!

that seven straight days off makes it worth the while for me!! only work 14days out of the month!

mine is all 12 hour night shifts (7p-7a) but its 4 on, 1 off, 2 on, 4 off, 1 on, 2 off....and it can change at the last minute if you get called in, like i did last night at 7:10

to be honest, my biggest problem with it is having to work weekends

Mine is the same as yours accept add another week of 4-10hr days mon-thurs for requal training after the 3 nights. It just makes it a 5 week rotation. I love the time off but hate working the weekends. Work 2 weekends in a row and off 3 in a row.
But 2 weeks ago I got a day shift job working 5-10's 6am-4pm. It's nice!

How often do you get all 7 off? I have a friend at Dow in Freeport. If he wants all seven, he has to protect it with vacation. I also have a friend at BP in Texas City. They work the longchange also. It doesnt seem he gets all his seven off usually.

I'll take my 4 on 4 off. Take a set of days off, you got 12 1/2 days off work.

If you have a problem getting to sleep when working nights, drink a beer before bed. Search it out, 1-2 beers a day are good for you.
