Who's Gone Psuedo-Green on the DD?

I looked at them, but decided against due to having a friend with one and they are HORRIBLE in the snow for some reason. I mean my car isn't the same as driving my truck or Jeep in the snow but it holds its own with some 16" snow tires.

Did that make sense?

Thank God I don't have to worry about the snow...it VERY rarely falls here (30mi from the Gulf Coast).

Lisa, I think that made sense. Sounds like a round trip commute of 82 mi when it's all said & done.
Somehow, my bro figured it out, & a new Volt would end up costing me $200-300 a month, despite the fact that it's $41k or so. I need him to crunch those figures again, cause I forgot how he came up w/. them at the time. Gov't gives u back $7500. I'd thought it was $7500 or $8500, but if they're willing to help (rather encourage us thru that), I'm all for it.
And yes, a perk of TX is lack of snow. You can't imagine how much I dislike it. I don't mind it for 2 or 3 wks. But nothin further, plus I can't stand the cold.
Only those that deal w/. winter can possibly imagine winter woes. Unless they like it. I've come to dread winter more each yr. & it's been like that for almost 20 yrs. It's nice to look at, but not drive to work or work in it. I do admit to doin a powerslide or perhaps a bunch of them when it snows tho. That could lead to worse mileage too.
Kentucky looks better all the time, but even the South got blasted by winter this season. I've thought of movin, but family / friends being here, everything I know & my job. I digress.

I'd definitely think a cobalt ss or hhr ss would be a good choice if you were looking at used. I think they only sold those in standard trans correct???? What about a Dodge Caliber SRT-4? I also like the VW TDI's and the VW GTI is pimp for a gasser-pretty decent power and a standard only.

They're reasonably priced at 18-20k

about a year ago i set out for a good DD i test drove allot of cars, gti, rabbit, cobalt ss and none ss, mazda 3, civic si, Colorado, and a couple more i cant remember. i wanted something small, manual, fun, with good gas mileage, and around 15k$.
went down to the local carmax one day, and the guy had me drive a damn mini cooper s. i had allot of doubts, but the handling, 6speed, and 1.6ls spinning the smallest eaton i have ever seen changed my mind.
if you check one out 02-06 is supercharged 07 up are turbo. 02-06 are better IMO.
i think i would want a crz if it wasn't a hybrid reminds me of the crx (i think that was the idea)

Cole, huge aftermarket on Mini. They're so lite, they gotta handle like on rails. But I must say, people view u to be of a certain sexual preference driving one.
