Explain to me WHY I would spend $1000+ on exhaust only to have to modify it

I used the best stepped band clamps I could buy - Torctite.

You asked in this thread what we wanted, I'm telling you and now you are arguing with me?

No not arguing with you just stating that a slip fit is fine and doesn't leak when you use it with the correct hardware, it is QUALITY . I never asked if you wanted them to be stepped and for them to have merge collectors, or served with coffee.. I asked if more people would be interested in them if they were offered in a 1 7/8 primary and had a 3 inch y pipe set up.. And as for the band clamps I have no idea why you had leaks and made the tubing out of round.... I had issues to when I used pacestters along with there Y pipe and reg muffler clamps....

both my OBX and Pacesetters came out of round. It's very hard to make 2 pipes slip together perfectly, and when they don't that compromises the effectiveness of the band clamp. So, given that I will not buy slip fit headers. Slip fit also makes installing the headers more difficult because you can't tighten the headers down until the Y pipe is fully installed. I learned this the hard with with pacesetters.

Anyway I dunno if you have ever compared a SW header collector to a pacesetter or obx, but it is a night and day diff on the thickness of it..

John, you know if stainlessworks wants to make a 1 7/8 header with a 3" collector I would buy a set. The pricing I know will be about 30% cheaper than the American Racing ones and just as good if not better quality.

not really.
i've been running pacesetters for 4.5 years now and haven't had any issues with them. i had some 3 bolt flanges welded onto the collector for a nice seal. i just installed some pacesetters along with the ory on my friends truck last month and welded some flanges on them. once everything was fitted we welded the other two slip joints. i never had any fitment problems/clearance issues on either one. for $500 i think they are pretty hard to beat.

If they built 1 7/8" with flange connections ala ARH w/ 3 " y pipe I'd consider being in given the price is good.
