the plan when we started contemplating the swap instead of getting a newer dodge 2500 was to grab an 06ish escalade or denali & swap in a nv4500 and nv149 (with a shaft swap).
...and then i saw him contemplate selling his denali - to which you jumped right on it, so i figured i'd just see how that went first. we ain't in a rush nohow - not trying to get preggers 'til next fall & even then, i can still fit her + 1 carseat in the old gal.

haha... if only i didn't hate the GM truck body styles from 07-13 (especially the SUVs). the 14-18 are slightly better, but now the 19+ are even worse than the NNBS.

That's funny you ride 3 deep in the RCSB. I made a ton of trips to Denver from Rapid and back riding 3 deep.

it's the stronger, fully-mechanical AWD t-case that uses a viscous coupler to split the torque vs the BW4485 on 03+ SUVs that has an open diff and uses traction control & the brakes.
either way, they still have 1/2 ton 27spline inputs and require the same 32spline input shaft swap to mate to 4L80 / NV4500 / ZF-S6-650 conversions (or using a HD t-case... but they never made AWD HD trucks - only 4WD).
for an SUV, it don't matter one way or the other whether it's AWD or 4WD to me because i ain't gonna be out mudding / crawling in my mom-mobile. we just want something better in rain & snow than a 2WD... and having a stick-shift AWD would be a cool one-off because all the AWD stick swaps i've seen changed to 4WD (all 2 of them).
