1996 Chevy Tahoe cheap
Hey guys, I want an LS1 really bad, and I found a couple nice ones in my area, and my truck needs to go ASAP. The truck is a 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe LS. Truck is two-tone green/tan with tan cloth interior. It is a 4x4 with the 5.7 vortec motor. It has 171k on it, mostly highway, and the engine runs like a champ.
I'll start with bad first. A/C needs to be recharged. Currently doesn't work. Doesn't matter to me because I like to drive with the windows down. Power seat goes up, down, and inflates, but doesn't move forward or backwards. Probably just a short in the wire. Power mirrors work about half the time. Rear end needs a new pinion, or possibly ring and pinion. I got quoted by a place in Chicago called Transomatic at $480 for the fixed pinion and up to just over 700 for the ring and pinion. I am not in the mood to fix it because I want the LS1, so I am willing to let my truck go for a lot cheaper. Usual dings and scratches on the body. Some paint chipping on the edge of the hood common problem because a few other Tahoe owners I know have the same thing. Needs an O2 sensor because the SES light is on and its not the cats causing it. Some wear on the seats. No rips or tears
Now for the Good.
Recent Tune-up. Bosch platiunum +4 spark plugs and wires. New oil and fuel filter.
CD player works great.
Heat in the winter feels hotter than hell.
Kenwood 4x10 speakers in the rear roof. I don't think they even make 4x10s anymore.
True duals after the factory cats with glasspacks. Run out the back to 3 inch chrome tips. Deep and loud. I get compliments all the time on the way it sounds.
K&N drop-in filter.
New starter. Fairly new tires. Kelly Safari tires 265/75/16 (31.6 inches).
Flame grill over factory grill (simple bolt-on). Can be taken off if new owner doesn't want/like it. Goodyear gator-back belt. Probably a few other things I am forgetting.
Price is $5000 obo...very negotiable...
