Default 2008 Vortec Max

I have a 2008 CCSB VMax 4x4

Just wondering if anyone has done much tuning with Max Package trucks.

I have removed the 4 second PE delay which seemed to wake the truck up a bunch.

I removed the speed limiter and have set it to use the tune calibration instead of from GMLAN.

I have not changed the Torque mgmt yet. Any recommandations based on the 4L70E which is reported to be in the trucks?

I've been mostly focused lately with working on the mileage. I've move the TPS max to 20% to allow you to actually give the car some throttle but keep DoD active. But the vacuum seems to be most critical for AFM.

I think the biggest area that needs work is the Dod enable/disable Vac tables. Mine have been modified, but I have not had time to fine tune them. Has anyone had time to log them and see what seems to be optimal? The truck is holding DoD mode longer, but I think with some more tune time it will hold much better and off course mileage will go up. And these days every gallon counts. So I wanted to see if anyone else had done any logging or had any data. I have heard of some tuned 4x4 truck running 22mpg, and 2wd running 24.

I have not leaned the truck out or jacked up the timing since I am pretty much going to run 87 octane exclusively. I know these trucks can benefit from some timing. So, has anyone found what the trucks seem to be happy with?

I can log all the data, and play with the tune myself, I just figured it never hurts to ask. If no one posts up, I will post results as I have time to mess with it.

none on the max, but some on the 08 denali, and 07-08 trucks, only playing with the timing in DOD adding +4 degrees, not sure what your talking about by getting rid of the 4second delay in pe??

most of the nbbs trucks i've tuned get 4 more mpg, but my clients are the gas milage kind of people hhahaa

To clarify, I set

Power Enrichment->PE enable->Delay RPM to 0 (was 8192)
Power Enrichment->Power Enrichment->Enrichment Rate to 2.0000 it was .2000

dont be afraid to remove torque managment, really wakes up the truck,if you are not racing it or abusing it daily, i dont see it breaking that fast. i removed all of it on my 07 4x4 and a year and a half later with 19000 miles, i have no tranny problems yet, i tuned it at 20miles.

I don't have an issue with removing TM. I was simply doing a change at a time and verifying my results. I just had not gotten to TM yet, and wanted to see if anyone had already tuned one of the trucks and had any specific recommendations for what to hit in the tune.

it should of been 5000, the 8192 is the piston protection???

the rate is same as mine.

I messed with DOD some on my truck. I tried slowly adjusting the vac tables and adding a little bit of spark and it would ping, so I gave up and haven't had a chance to mess with it since. I did remove all the negative timing from the DOD and main spark tables (hi and lo) and I set the 0 areas in low to 2 degrees or so. Picked up a bit in town, but went from 16.2 to 17.5 on the highway. The truck is still a dog on the low end, like to figure that out, but I have been too busy to mess with it lately.
