i rebuilt a gen 6 454 was a boat engine block and heads ,i replaced the crank rod and main bearings ,put a high volume pump with steel distributer gear shaft ,replaced the cam with a 385 hp mercury mag cam also a ho truck roller cam i found for 35 bucks brand new ,i left the rods and piston and rings alone and the heads ,i put the engine all back together and had a little fight gettin the distributor in time but i think its right ,havent set the cam offset yet ,but it runs good besides the skip lol ,it skips all the time and as it heats up it starts to hesitate ,aand the raw fumes are bad cant stay in garage for very long without getting a headace or almost passing out lol ,it has no codes and if u hit the gas and let off quick it wants to stall then idles up and down for a bit then flattens out at just under 1000 rpms ,if it doesnt stall ,when its cold it starts right up but after it warms up a bit it takes a bit to start and u have to keep ur foot on the gas peddle a bit ,seems like it has great power but its running way to rich and skipping does anyone have any idea what i may be or where i should start lookin thanks rich

It sounds like You may need to tune the ECM for that engine..(injector flow rates, idle control, maf)
