4l80e swap, 2-1 kickdown issue
First off, I am using EFI Live to tune the truck for the time being. It is a 2003, ECSB with a 5.3, stock height tires also.
I completed my 4l80e swap the other day. It has a 3200 stall Circle D converter and a transgo HD2 shift kit, with a few mods that Jake suggested, rather than transgo. I have since been driving it around, tweaking the tune to my liking. The issue is, I set the 2-1 downshift to occur at or below 48mph. It performs the downshift properly, but as soon as rpm comes up to 4800 rpm, it up shifts to 2nd, pulls for about 1 second then kicks back down to 1st where it completes it's 6000rpm pull and then clicks 2nd gear normally.
I raised the kick down mph to 51mph to try and remedy this 2-1-2-1 fiasco. That only made it worse, now anything between 40mph and 60mph does the exact same thing.
So I lowered the kick down mph to 45mph and that has effectively solved the 2-1-2-1 shifting issue, but now the issue is that it still does the 2-1 kick down properly, but at 4800 rpm, it makes the up shift to 2nd gear as the rpm is coming up. I cannot get it to make the down shift and pull all the way through 6000 rpm, unless I mash the pedal below 40 mph. The 4l60e had the tune setup the same way and it never had this issue.
I tried to change the 1-2 up shift mph to closely match the RPM shift point and that resulted in it not up shifting period to 2nd gear at WOT. It bounces off the limiter.
I am lost on what to do. I would like it to kick down to 1st gear at or below 48mph, but cannot get it to cooperate. Everything else functions perfectly with this trans.
