4L80E Transmission tuning question
#51
I would buy a new plate, I tried and ran into some issues.
1. I couldn't find someone to sell me just the plate. It was the whole kit or nothing.
2. I dont know what to plug or drill etc...for a new plate
3. No one here has done a writeup for me yet

Did you try FLT ------->>>>>>>>>>
I got mine from Oregon Performance Transmission, Inc. on ebay. They have a site, try google. It cost $16.25 + shipping.
Maybe FLT will do one up for you and send it to you ready to put in.

I think in 05 they went to the steel plates until then they were aluminum .
Go to TransGo website and look at a 04 kit and a 05 the kit describes the difference , you will see steel plate to replace aluminum plate in 4L80e .
Might even be able to DL a PDF of the install instructions also . See they have video now !

All separator plates for the 4l80e are made of steel. Not sure where you read that were aluminum but I just spent 20 minutes and could not find what you are talking about. Never ever saw one in an 80. As far as the plate for you HOE, 2004 and the 2005, 2006, 2007 plates are all the same. Trans go has made the plate universal for all years. On another note. I personally hate the TG plate when installing the kit with the plugs. It is to thick and to me the plugs are not thick enough. I use a new delco plate when doing this kit and for me it works much better. Then again I am not one to follow directions. I make them! Good luck with the tune. I personally would leave that up to a tuner but now that there is software available you are all tuners!!!! But what do I know I'm just a dumb tranny guy!

Hardened steel plate .
Normally the kit does not come with a plate , so how many have you done that came with the plate ?
The kit requires you to re-use the original plate , so I guess it would be a Delco part then .
Rewrite please !
