Default 5.3L to 6.0L with texas speed 220R cam, tuning definitely required isnt it?

got my truck back today after an engine swap, i went from a stock 5.3L with 270,000 miles to a moderately built 6.0L LQ4, here's what my truck has:

2005 silverado K1500

LQ4 6.0L shortblock
cometic .040 headgaskets for added compression
texas speed 220R cam with 111 LSA
pac 1218 valve springs
comp cams 7.35 pushrods
Longtube headers
3" exhaust pipe with dynaflow muffler

K&N CAI

my truck will startup and run cold, but as it warms up its idle drops down and will no longer run, i cant even coast without it stalling out.

is there anything i can do to help keep it running until i get a custom tune? or do i basically have my truck sit until its tuned?

will a mail order tune be enough to make it run? im looking at several different tuning facility's, id love to get a dyno tune, but the ONLY semi local tuner (an hour drive) is no longer taking new customers.

id love to get my truck to "driveable" condition until i can get it tuned, but its not looking good.

you could double pedal it driving it in town. hour drive isn't bad to get tuned. i towed my truck 3 hours to get a dyno tune.

mail order would be a good choice, but the truck wont be to its full potential

any suggestions for mail order?

my local group suggested PCMforless.com

ive heard good things about blackbear tunes also

My truck being a 2005, do i need to send in my TCM also?

Mail order will be highly suboptimal, and frankly a waste of time in my opinion and experience.

Your best bet will be getting your own tuning software if you cant get a live tune.

Your tune isn't anything out of the ordinary. Just give Nelson's Performance a call and have them tune your truck. If you want it dialed in more I'd recommend getting a wide band and sending him logs.
Also where are you from?

im in charleston WV, the only tuner close is bluecat tuning (supposedly one of the BEST for LS based motors) however im told he isnt taking any new customers and has a 2 month backlog on dyno tuning. i may book in advanced next year and have a dyno tune done, but for now i did the mail order tune. Ive had several private messages telling me blackbear tuning is one of the best so i went with them.

got my PCM in from blackbear tuning, i have to say its great, my truck shifts better, drives alot better and the sound of the motor sounds 100% better.

*IF* i had to do anything differently i would probably have got a smaller cam, something in a 214/218 duration with a 5.30-5.40 lift seeing as i have stock flow on my 317 heads. Either way im super happy with my tuning.
