Lets just look at the 2005 Operating Systems (OS's). This way we will have only the CTS-V as a car abd all the opthers will be trucks
12591725 old OS -- New OS = 12592618
12592618 -- CTS-V, 4.8L to 6.0L Truck, Flex Fuel & Non Flex, All Trans options & H2
12606961
12612115 -- 8.1L
Template #04_06
My point is that OSID #12592618 could run every configuration or option that was used in all of the GM cars and trucks that ran the PCM #12589462, but everything will work in PCM #12589463 except DBC. 12589463 is missing the IAC Driver inside the PCM

Cal, if I'm understanding you if I'm going to go DBC then use the 2001 computer if I go DBW use the 2005 computer. Thanks that helps. I think since a reprogram is needed either way and I'm leaning to keeping the auto track transfer case, I'm going to DBC with the 2001 comp cheaper and easier. Or so it seems

Will the 03 harness not be compatible with my 01 PCM? or Will it>?
I plan to send my PCM off to get re-segmented for 80e as well.
Need some input. I maybe interested in that harness.
