Default 98 Sierra tune

Has anyone gotten just a tune with a 350 vortec? A guy I work with works with hp tuners and wanted to know what the outcome of having it tuned was

Bout like tuning anything else with a tune a 350 runs great with a tune but it's still no LS motor. They run better but you aren't going to go from a 15 second truck to a 10 second truck with a tune.

From what I was told when I had my 97, it wasn't really worth the money, something to do with the computers, and the amount you can squeeze out of the motor was very small. Making the $ not quite worth it.

Don't take my word though...I decided against it, and to be honest, rarely do I see people with OBS trucks tuned. I'd save any mod money for that motor and use it towards a swap later on.

The trucks my daily driver and most likely won't be getting anything other than exhaust. I'd like a rcsb to do a swap Into. But the guy I work with does the tuning for around 100 bucks. So I considered it as an option just to get a bit more guts into it and wanted the pressure changed in the tranny for a firm shift and the speedo corrected to the smaller tires from being lowered. I had considered just a mild cam as well. But most people say its stupid to put a cam in a daily driver

At $100 I would consider it, at $250 I doubt I would. Hopefully someone who has actually done this can chime in.

Yeah that's what I'm hoping for lol. A friend of
Mine has a rcsb 06 with an lq9 and a tune and when he got it tuned by the same guy that will be doing mine it made a big difference. That's kind of what I'm going on for it. I obviously won't have the same results as a stock 6L but it was still a big jump. He pulled over half a second off his 1/4m time and it shifts nice and hard all day long lol

It helps like anything else. I had my 96 LT1 powered 9C1 Caprice tuned and it made a noticable difference in the power. I would have done my 96 Vortec truck but it basically was do an 0411 swap considering the 96 and 97 black boxes are only supported by Tunercat.

You won't get a jump like let's say myself with an LQ4 HD as they are probably one of the most undertuned engines in GM's history, but it would still be worth the money.

Higher RPM will still suck ***** but that is inherent of the shitty intake manifold they have.
