Aftermarket trans gauge, can it be wired to factory harness and sensor??

Aftermarket trans gauge, can it be wired to factory harness and sensor??
Looking to add trans temp gauge. Don't have the money to buy a cluster with a gauge from factory. Looking at Glowshift brand gauge. Can it be wired into factory harness and not cause codes? Or would I be required to install the included sensor with the gauge to provide the data?
2001 silverado 1500. 4l60e.
If i had to install sending unit, where would it need to be screwed into the transmission?
