Default Can you use a handheld on a tuned pcm?

First off I am not very educated on tuning so please excuse my lack of knowledge. My question is this, can I use a handheld tuner that came with a Magnacharger side mount kit on a custom tuned PCM if the PCM is only tuned on cetain areas. Example, only change shift points, redline and remove top speed limiter and leave the fuel modifications up to the handheld tuner. If anyone has any ideas on this I would love to hear what you think. If it absolutely cant be done then I would like to hear that before I persue this any further. Thanks for the help.

I think it depends on if the person who did the tune locked the pcm or not, and if the handheld will allow you to make individual changes w/o having to flash a complete tune into the pcm.

Cool

Jerry2500 has a Nelson tune and I think that he uses a Predator to monitor spark, IAT, and KR. I am not sure if he can use it to change other things in the tune or not. Maybe he will se this post and tell us or you can send him a PM.

Thanks for the replys. I am hoping I can delete top speed limiter, remove egr and rear 02s. If anyone knows for sure that would help me out a lot.

I've never heard of a handheld being able to delete EGR and O2's, but I'm not sure what the Magnacharger handheld is capable of...it would say in the user's guide, but I really doubt that it can do that. You have a Wait4Me tune correct? You could try giving Jesse a call and see what he recommends...I thought that he had a free upgrade policy.

I understand that a handheld usually cannot do those things. Jesse is a hard man to get ahold of. I was hoping someone could shed some light on this and tell me if it is possible or not before I send my PCM out to Jesse.

I use my Predator to monitor as well. I have never tried to modify one of Nelsons tuned PCMs with it though for fear of the obvious.
I do have a spare PCM, maybe I could experiment with that one.

It wont work, it reflashes to pcm and will overwright the custom tune. But more than likely the pcm will be locked and you won't be able to do it.

Sorry Ive been away for a little while. Thank you for the help. I guess I will have to talk to Jesse and see if anything is possible. I would really like to get a custom tune. I just dont know what would be the best choice for me. I would like to get all of the performance out of the sc that I can. The Magnuson tune seems like it will hold a lot back. What do you guys think would be the best choice for a custom tune? Ex: Dyno tune, mail order(like through Nelson's), or driving tune.

If you can get someone to do a hands on street tune, that would be the best way to go IMO.
