Question cold start issue only when cold

i have been doing some reading/searching and it seems that my problem as usual is very far and few lol....
i live in Dallas,Tx and it very seldom gets cold here but when it does the truck surges a few times then acts like its running out of gas, i can idle it up a small amount and it shudders then idles up just fine, truck it will die if i let it or some times the truck hold like 300-400 rpms and shudder like it has a cam. eventually the truck clears out and idles fine.(once warm)
the truck is an 2002 2500hd 6.0 with only 64k miles
truck is all stock NO TUNE...
i am assuming its the intake gasket...
intake gasket or not?
thanks
Ed

If you have a cable throttle, the IAC might be dirty.

Have you tried running seafoam or any kind of injector cleaner in the tank to clean injectors and fuel system?
