Did your old motor have a catastrophic failure leading to it's replacement.

Almost catastrophic. The thrust bearing went bad, which I think may have been builders error. I noticed the crank pulley moving slightly after it threw a belt around 1000 miles after it was built, but thought it was just the balancer. The motor ran fine, wasn't down on power or oil pressure, developed a slight knock right before I yanked it out.

This motor is entirely new; covers, oil pump, intake, etc etc. I replaced the converter as well.

It's not top end related. Tore into the heads a little and everything was fine. Nothing seemed to be contaminating the oil either. Gonna pull the pan next..
