Cylinder deactivation ECM
Hey folks. I'm pretty new to this site. A few of y'all helped me troubleshoot my '96 Silverado, but I have since bought a ECSB 4wd '99 Sierra. Something I've been wondering about lately is the swap capabilities of the NBS ECMs into our older trucks. The cylinder deactivation technology on these things intrigues me. Can I swap a new ECM onto the 5.3 in my old truck? I don't want to hot rod the truck that much, cause a 496 Olds stroker is being bolted together for my lowrider as I type. But up here in Canada, regular gas is selling for about four bucks a gallon in US terms. Also, will headers, a muffler, and a tune help my mpg at all? Or will it hurt it to gain hp? Thanks for reading this. Sorry if it's a dumb question, and sorry I'm asking about exhaust on the tuning board. Great website.

Headers, a muffler, and a tune could help your mileage but it would depend on how you drove it after the mods honestly.
