DDM HID headlights the way to go?
Hello.
I'm looking to do a HID headlight upgrade for my 2000 Silverado. I recently bought a set of actual euro headlight asseblies and I think while I have them out I'd like to upgrade.
I did a search and it seems a few people at least have purchased the DDM kits. There seems to ba a debate between 35w VS 55w. I think I'll go with the 55w because I'll be running a 235amp alternator. I can still be swayed though if the 55w is just a bad idea. I want a high and low kitbut don't know anything about HIDs.
DDM Tuning : HID Kits
Any recommendations? Thanks!

Thanks for the info you guys. I know I don't really care for the blue. So I guess the temperature I'm looking for is 5500? I'm surprised that they're under 50 bucks. Seems pretty affordable.

Mine are 6k and it's just a hint of blue. I think the video makes them look a little more blue than they are.
If you what just a pure white light 5k's will be what you want to get. They all vary a little by brand but this is a pretty accurate chart.

Is there a write up on HID lights somewhere?
What is the correct bulb type?
Do I need the dual HID harness?
H1/H7 9006 adapter cable, do I need this?
As far as wiring, I plan on upgrading "the big 3" when install time comes.

HID's are pretty straight forward and plug and play. It's a little more complicated if you use a relay (draws power from battery instead of factory headlight power). Relays are good if your lights are also your DRL's. On mine I just pulled the DRL fuse to solve that problem, so now they only come on when it's dusk or darker.
If I recall a 2000 Silvy has separate DRL's so that should not be an issue.
For your truck your stock bulbs are as listed below.
Low Beam: 9006
High Beam: 9005
Fog Light: 880
You should be able to match those right up with any HID kit. Will need one kit for each set of bulbs.

My 2000 still had issues with them flickering and or having not one turn on after the initial startup.. Why I recommended the harness. Better to get it over and out of the way instead of dealing with your lights not working right.
Install is easy enought, just remember to reverse the polarity on the lights with the DDM kits. They are backwards on our trucks. Once you get your lights we can help you out install them if necessary.
