If the PCM cooked itself it is not able to communicate on the data buss causing your your failure message when you try to link up to it using the programming software.

The gauges are also not reading due to the pcm being off line because all of that information is sent to the cluster from the pcm over the serial data bus.

New PCM seems to have let me connect. Now I can't get HPT to cooperate. It asked my to license again, even though I already have a license for the Tahoe. I said "F it" because I want to get it tuned and re-license. THEN, it tells me I can't change the VIN or write the file and wants me to License AGAIN and use my last 2 credits. WTF?

Anybody really good with HPT and want to call and walk me through this? I don't understand why it's not working.

They don't lock to the VIN, but to the serial number in the pcm it's self (other wise you could put the same VIN into any pcm and never have to buy another license for anything). If you got a new PCM, you will have to lisence to it. I don't know about HPT, but if you show EFILive your fried PCM, they will give you a new license for the new PCM for free. FYI, with EFILive you can change the VIN in the PCM with the scanner.

OK, I got all the bugs worked out but 1. My stock tune should be this:
0411 PCM
512KB
4L60
5.3
OS:12216125
Cal:12216121
OS ID:AM
BCC:BNMP
VIN:1GNEC13ZX2R133495 (Flex Fuel)

I found a 2002 Tahoe w/traction control tune in the tune repository for HPT. I can get it to crank and run, but at about 1000-1200rpm and the throttle blade will not respond. I tried different motors, TPS', and even hooked up the 102mm TB that worked before and it won't respond either. I have to assume it is in the tune somewhere? I have attached the tune I have loaded. I was wondering if anyone sees a tune issue that will cause the TB to do nothing.
Also throwing: P0122 TPS circuit low voltage (SES) Even though I have changed the TPS with a known good one.
