Default does anyone use a keyspan adapter with their hp tuners?

I got my HP Tuners software and it had a nine pin adapter for the laptop,my laptop has the fifteen pin port,so bill at hp tuners told me to get a keyspan USA-19HS adapter so I can plug it into my usb instead. Well I got the adapter installed it and I still cannot get the truck to comunicate with the laptop,it says cable not connected at the bottom of the screen. Anyone know whats going on ?

Not sure but did you go to device manager and change your (com1) port settings. from 9600 to 115200 and advance recieve buffer to 8 and transmit buffer to 16? Maybe I'm way off...

I saw that @ hptuners .com and tried to adjust my settings but the screens they where showing and the ones I accessed looked totally different. I think I got the advance recieve buffer and transmit buffer done but I couldn't find the screen for the port settings? That might be my problem.
