Dyno tune question
I am thinking of getting a dyno tune at Granatelli motor sports, I know nothing about tuning and have heard nothing good or bad from Granatelli's, But he is the only AWD dyno with in 500 miles (380 miles). What are some of the things I should ask him or make sure he does? Has anybody had him do their tune? The more answers I get the better

Whatever you do, just dont let Granetelli sucker you into buying 1 of his MAFS(mass airflow sensors).
Your truck allready has an 85mm MAFS from the factory that will be great in your truck well beyond 500 hp.
What mods do you have??
How much is he charging you?
Do you want the best performance you can get from a tune? or do you just want subtle improvements in all driving situations?
Do you want to run 87 strictly, 93 octane strictly?
Will you be going the dragstrip? 1/8th mile 1/4 mile?
Answer these questions and I'll give you some recommkendations.

My mods are in sig, I also have 1.85 rockers and springs and ARP rod bolts Fully built level 5 4L65E tranny with 2600 stall. By the time I have the dyno tune I will also have the 90mm throttle body that is discussed in the FI section,
I don't have a price on what he is charging. I wanted to be armed with some info before I call him. I am willing to pay between 500.00 and 600.00 dollars. Last year I had them dyno my truck when I first put my Radix on and I think I remember the cost was 120.00 to put on the dyno and for 3 pulls and I think 75.00 an hour for tuning but I'm not sure.
I know not to have him put their MAF in.
This truck is my daily driver so it has to be very streetable, I still want as much power as I can get and not drop below 15 MPG highway, I am also thinking seriously on getting a second computer and have him give me an economy tune for road trips.
I live in Calif. so the highest octane is 91 which is what I put in.
I live with in 40 miles of a 1/4 strip and I try and go 1 or 2 times a month.
I also live within an 1-1/2 hours from Synergy motorsports and I here great things about his tuning abilities. I talked with Rick and they don't have an AWD dyno so he would have to do a street tune and this is what he said
AWD is tough, I would love to be able to offer this, but the dynapack 2wd is exspensive enough. Sorry I could not be of any better help to you. I am sure I could do a street tune for you with a wideband, but we are talking more than a few days of straight driving to even come close to what I could accomplish on the dynapack with cell by cell tuning. Let me know if you are still interested in us helping.

just make sure he doesnt lean it out too badly.. if you are planning on running any power adders (n2o, blower, turbo) you will end up with BAD problems... GMS is known for making things lean out in their products... their MAF's and handheld tuners all seem to do this for one reason or another.
