Default Efi live or get another tune

hey guys. well i talked to another tunner near me and he wont tune the truck without degreeing the cam since we didnt when i put it in. And he also said the 224r is a car cam not a truck cam what do you guys think of that? And would i be better off getting EFI live instead of haveing someone else tune it. Truck runs strong it just feel like something aint right with the tranni **** points are all over. and while towing a trailer on the high way the shifts where all over. Let me know what you guys think thanks.

If your willing to take the time and learn how to use it, tuning software is the best mod and investment you will ever buy for your truck.

I wouldn't let that guy touch my truck with statements like that. We need complete details on your setup.

After I got my EFI Live tune I felt a big difference especially towing. I would say take the time and get to use it and get on the efi live forum and ask questions. The guys on there know their ish.

Specs on truck
2006 2500hd 4x4
-6.0
-224R tsp its 224/228 112 (we didnt degree it when we installed it)
-Hardened pushrods
-Double valve springs
- American Racing headers
-Electric fans
-2500 stall fti converter (Fti great company guy who built mine called me again today to see if i had any updates and too keep him posted great company)
- Tuned

Motor runs strong i just think im losing it all in the tranni. Pulled a trailer last night for a friend, trailer had a partially stripped k30 in it well no bed and doors. It pulled great on the highway motor wasnt really struggaling, temps were fine. it just couldnt find the right gear. Only big problem was when i left there was a step driveway and it didnt wana pull but i was at like half throttle. The slp muffler i have is way to loud putting a flowmaster back on asap. In tow haul mode it seems to wake up more when it dosnt have a trailer on it. Like itll take off if ur going along and you floor it. But in regular driving its idk a mess lol sluggish and no *****!!!

Thanks again guys

Jeremy

You're experiencing some of the low end loss by that cam. It's a good cam just not for a 3/4 ton truck that is going to be pulling trailers. Personally I would've gone with something like a 212/218 for it. With that said degreeing the cam is not necessary I've never done it in all the swaps I've done.

You do not have to degree a cam in order to get it tuned.. Alot of cams have advance ground into them to start with...

Next is your combo is def not right for that truck.. The converter to start is way to small for that cam, esp in a 2500 truck.. I would def be looking for something in the 212-218 area with a split duration, or if you want go in the 222-224 area, but only if you put a converter of 3k or so in there.. As for the cam not being a truck cam, the cam has no idea what it is in, it makes power where it is designed to make it at.. Being a huge fat truck, it will be a dog down low, cuz it is a high end cam.. I would not let them guys tune your truck.. Get a good mail order tune from one of the guys here, or isn't slowhawk up there in that area?? He is a member here that does efi live tuning, dyno tunes

LOL at the description on the truck pull, only 60% throttle, riiiiggghhhttt.....

If you're not going to tow then that cam could be good but it will need a 3200 or 3600 if you really want optimal performance.
